One of my favorite parts about NPR is the commentators identifying the station after each program it comes across the waves very uniformly. Anyone who's an avid listener will mouth the cantor of the words as they flow out of the radio, "P-R-I.... Public Radio... International." or "This is NPR National...Public...Radio" Sigh. In addition to this FCC mandated tradition, a couple spots will air, teasers for upcomming shows and commercials for sponsers. They usually include establishments such as a local Tallahassee nursery that specializes in bird feeders and identifying the birds in your area. However today after Fresh air (I think it might have been Dave Davies filling in for Terry Gross) the voice came over the air in all of it's public radio glory with the following announcement, "... The White stripes...with their new album... Get behind me Satan." I died a little in my soul.
So I've heard this edition of this american life before. But I must say, my favorite line thus far is "Beaches tend to play a more important part in our home movies than they do in our lives."
